Tip # 2: Your Audience Wants You To Succeed!

When I first got into the selling game my public speaking training consisted of "Here -- this is what we sell. Listen to this guy go through a couple of calls... then there's the phone. Enjoy!" Needless to say, I failed miserably the first few calls. But in time it got easier and I got comfortable with speaking in public -- even if it was on the phone.

Several years later I was fortunate to be exposed to a number of excellent publc speakers and trainers. Many of whom were trying to teach me to be a better speaker. And as a trainer and internal consultant, I had a chance to practice with all levels of management.

When I went into consulting, I found myself having to lead meetings on a regular basis. I quickly learned how important it was to get the presentation right. How to sound confident (even when I wasn't) and how to project that confidence to my audience.

And I learned something then. I learned how not to present and how not to teach and how important public speaking and effective presentation skills are.

When Paul and I first joined forces to teach entrepreneurs and individual professionals we spent a great deal of time developing our training processes and philosophies. And one of the first courses we identified was a series of seminars on effective presentation skills and public speaking skills.

From those strategic discussions and the development of the courses we identified a number of "MUST HAVES" which we include in our seminars.
